Frequently Asked Questions

  • The Maldives typically experiences a tropical climate with warm temperatures and high humidity throughout the year. The average temperature in the Maldives ranges from around 25–30℃ / 77–86℉ throughout the year.

The Maldives has two distinct seasons: the dry season (northeast monsoon) and the wet season (southwest monsoon). The dry season runs from December to April and is characterized by calm, clear weather with very little rainfall. The wet season, which runs from May to November, is characterized by more frequent rainfall and higher humidity.

However, it's important to note that weather patterns can vary, and there may be occasional deviations from the typical weather patterns. It's always a good idea to check the weather forecast before your trip and pack accordingly.

  • The official currency of the Maldives is the Maldivian rufiyaa (MVR). However, US dollars are also widely accepted in the Maldives, especially at resorts and tourist areas. Some larger establishments may also accept euros and British pounds. Remember to bring new, crisp banknotes, as old or notes that have writing on them will not be accepted.

Major credit cards such as Visa and Mastercard are widely accepted in the Maldives, especially at resorts and tourist areas. However, it's always a good idea to check with your bank or credit card company to make sure your card will work in the Maldives, and to inform them of your travel plans to avoid any issues with your card being blocked for suspected fraud.

It's also a good idea to have some cash on hand for small purchases or to use at local markets and shops, especially if you plan to venture outside of the resort areas. ATMs are available in the Maldives, but they may not be available on smaller islands or atolls, so it's a good idea to withdraw cash in advance if you plan to travel to these areas.

  • The peak tourism season in the Maldives is from December to April, which coincides with the dry season (northeast monsoon). During this time, the weather is generally sunny and dry with very little rainfall, making it an ideal time for outdoor activities such as swimming, diving, and sunbathing. The water is also clear and calm, making it an ideal time for snorkeling and diving.

  • The official language of the Maldives is Dhivehi, which is an Indo-Aryan language spoken by the majority of the population. Dhivehi is a complex language with its own unique script and grammar.

However, due to the Maldives' strong ties to the tourism industry, English is widely spoken and understood in the country, especially in resort areas and among those working in the tourism industry. Many signs, menus, and other materials for tourists are also available in English.

In addition to Dhivehi and English, other languages such as Hindi, Urdu, and various other South Asian languages may also be spoken by some residents of the Maldives, particularly those who work in the tourism industry and have had contact with visitors from those regions.

  • Visa requirements for entering the Maldives vary depending on the traveler's nationality and the length of their stay.

For visitors from most countries, a free 30-day visa will be issued upon arrival in the Maldives. This visa can be extended for up to a total of 90 days, with an extension fee of MVR 750 (approximately USD 50) for each additional 30-day period.

However, for citizens of certain countries, a pre-arrival visa may be required. These countries include:

    • Afghanistan

    • Bangladesh

    • Iran

    • Iraq

    • North Korea

    • Nigeria

    • Pakistan

    • Syria

    • Yemen

Citizens of these countries are required to apply for a visa in advance through a Maldives embassy or consulate.

It's important to note that visa requirements can change, so it's always a good idea to check the latest information with the Maldives embassy or consulate in your home country before traveling.

  • Please ensure that your passport is valid for at least 6 months from the date you intend to leave Palau. Your passport must also be in good condition, with at least 3 blank pages.

Visitors are required to verify their relevant embassies to check if a visa is required prior to leaving their country of travel origin.

  • Yes, group discounts are available, depending on total group size. For more details, you may contact our Bookings & Reservations Team at info@pearlfleet.org.

  • At Tiger Zoo Fuvahmulah, a single dive can offer a magnificent opportunity to encounter various uncommon species of sharks, including Thresher Sharks, tiger sharks, hammerhead sharks, and enormous whale sharks that frequent the area all year round. Notably, the population of tiger sharks found in the nearby waters is the largest in the archipelago, which aptly justifies the site's name as the most exceptional diving spot in the Maldives. Diving at Tiger Zoo costs US$30 per tourist.

  • 13-day 12-nights Wonders of Deep South Cruise: US$[(13x6) + 30] = US$108

  • The team at Pearl Fleet works hard to ensure your maximum comfort and enjoyment during the cruise. It is a common practice to offer a small gratuity at the end of your trip. As a guide, it is customary to offer gratuities of about 10-15% of the cost of your cruise, for a week-long cruise. All the gratuities collected will be equally shared among the crew. Gratuities must be given in cash.

  • The price of the cruise does not include any type of insurance coverage. However, diving insurance is compulsory for all divers diving from M/Y White Pearl. Your travel insurance may cover diving activities and related incidents.
